Spring Breaking at Mt. Lebanon

During spring break Doug was gone as usual to work and flew home Thursday evening. The boys and I ran errands and got Connor's hair chopped off on Monday. Tuesday we went to the movie theater to see "The Lorax." Wednesday we went to see Ms. Rachel and her boys for a playdate at their new house and then surprised Grandmother for a quick visit on our way home. Thursday was laundry and house cleaning day and then Friday was declared family day. It was honestly the worst family day ever! We were going to take the boys somewhere (possibly Oklahoma) fun and spend the night with hotel points at a hotel. Doug does that all week long, but the boys think that is the bomb! As soon as we ate lunch at Cici's close to home we got a text saying we had a house showing the next morning. We had a few lose ends to tie up at home so we ended up staying around town and disappointing a bunch of kids...so sad! After Cici's we went to Mt. Lebanon where Doug and I met and walked trails and just hung out. That is where all the pictures below were taken. Then we drove to Cabela's in Ft. Worth and looked around at all the stuffed animals, guns, and whatever they could find for about 3 hours. Finally we met up with Uncle Russell and his family and ate dinner at Taco Casa and hung out at their house before going home late that night.

A Fishing We Will Go

Doug made plans for the boys to go to Eustace, Texas one Saturday with a bunch of church friends to go fishing. Connor LOVES to go fishing, but the twins not as much thrilled. They told Doug they wanted to stay home with mom, but he really wanted me to tag along with all the men and have a family day...so off we went! We started off making a trip to the local donut store for all the boys (including Doug) to fill up with sugary goodness and then we were off for the 2 hour drive. As soon as we arrived the twins quickly changed their attitude about the trip. We arrived to a little piece of heaven. The private property was a few hundred acres of rolling hills with a huge pond that had a concrete walking path all the way around it. The boys fished and I ran...so momma was happy! We stayed for several hours fishing, running around, riding bikes/scooters, and just living it up. We enjoyed a picinic lunch and stopped for dinner on the way home late that night. The boys are excited about getting the opportunity to go back again!

The boys got to ride with the property manager on the cart to the pond...what a way to start the day!

The minute we pulled up to the pond off the boys ran to see Mr. Jason.

Mr. Jason says whoever reels in the fish is the catcher...so Grant caught a fish:)

and so did Preston:)

Doug getting Grant started fishing.

Grant patiently waiting on a fish to jump on his rod, but the sun sure was bothering him.

Not a problem...Mr. Dipply Do requested mom's sunglasses:) (I'm sure this is blackmail!)

The fisherman fishing without shoes on the boat trailer...go figure.

Grant and Preston going with Mr. Ray on his fishing boat. They were in heaven.

Karate choppin' Preston...

The house at the top of the hill...

Part of the pond with the walking path...

The property manager lives next door at his property that he calls "The Rock"...beautiful!

It's Lego Party Time

The boys wanted to go with a Lego themed party this year, but all that really amounted to was bright solid colored plates, napkins, and cups along with a Lego "Happy Birthday" sign that I made. The last thing they needed was a bunch of new lego sets from everyone that showed up to the party. The boys were suppose to have a bounce house, but it rained for two days surrounding the party so unfortunately we had to cancel the bouncy and promise we would rent it another time:( We ended up ordering pizza, had a fire, and let the kids run like crazies through our house for several hours and at the end of the night the twins said, "This was the best party"! I was so glad to hear those words because I was feeling really bad for them. They received some wonderful gifts and their dad and I bought them Kindle Fire's for each of them. The goal is to not want our phones anymore and download some books for the summer...that's a win win for all parties!

Connor got tackled by Jax and then Jake joined in the fun:)

This picture cracks me up...it is suppose to be a cute one of two of my boys, but Kevin just had to get in on the fun:)

The Twin's Big Day...We're 7 !!!!

It's February 17th and the twins have been counting down this day for almost 365 days...just kidding, but really about 30 days! Their daddy came home from work the night before and so we woke them up singing Happy Birthday:) I let them wear their new Lego birthday shirts to school and of course, I had to have some pics. A few weeks later I took the boys to see our family doctor for their well child check-up. Preston is 3 inches taller and 4lbs heavier than Grant...hard to believe! Back to their actual day... Doug, Aunt Shelley, Jax, Jake, and I all surprised the twins at lunch with McDonalds. It was exciting for all parties involved. The twins couldn't believe everyone came to see them plus Jax got to go to a real school...Jake just ran around and screamed like a crazy 2 year old:) I don't think Shelley will come back again, but we did have fun. The boys got to enjoy Lego cookies I made for lunch and then I brought cupcakes for their classes to enjoy at the end of the day.

Jake is saying, "CHEESE"!

Happy Valentine's Day

Doug was unfortunately traveling on Valentine's Day so the boys and I sent an email to him that morning...I heart U! The following pic are the cards I presented to the boys before school that morning:)

Boys Boys Boys

The boys still insist on sleeping together! I have finally put my foot down when school started this last fall and said only two people in one bed and one person by themselves each night. They take rotations sleeping with Connor and so tonight was Grant's turn. Apparently after we shut the door Preston got very upset and protective big brother Connor took control. He took the two gaming chairs and made a pallet for Preston in the chairs and let his head rest on the twin bed. It didn't look comfortable at all, but it was the thought that counted. After taking this picture, Doug and I moved Preston back to the top bunk and he went right back to sleep:)
