Crazy Boy

Sunday was spent lounging around the house allowing the sickly kids to regain strength before starting a new week at school. Grant who has been full of energy, and thank God hasn't gotten sick, continued to give us a run for our money. As Doug and I were busy watching the Cowboys get beat, Grant was busy playing in my bedside drawer. I looked up and died laughing...the picture below tells it all. The boy had q-tips stuck in his ears like a crazy alien boy! I guess the shirt explains the rest:)

"Calfy-Rope" - what 3 year old Grant says when he needs to get out of a predicament as he is laughing uncontrollably (his parents were taught "Calf-Rope")

What Does A Girl Have To Do?

What does a girl have to do...for a little space? I worked 12 hours on Friday and just wanted to lounge around Saturday morning. My body ached and I had two sick kids. You would have thought it would have been a quiet morning..oh no. About 5 something I rolled over and there was one Grant. He was asleep so I left him alone...then came # 2 and 3 about two hours later. It was about 7:30am and I realized quickly I had been graciously given about a 1 foot width of my own bed. I should at least be praising the fact we have a king size bed!

Surprise Visitors

Connor had two surprise visitors today at lunch, Uncle Kerry Lynn and Honey. Connor adores his great uncle due impartially to the fact that he has a farm with chickens and horses. Connor would go live with Uncle Kerry if we let him. Uncle Kerry is a postmaster and was in town doing audits so he decided to take a break with Connor. Connor walked into the cafeteria almost right past all three of his visitors. I called him by name and he did a double take and kind of got embarrassed. We all ate our lunches together and the boys talked about being a ladies man (since Connor says he has soooo many girlfriends). The highlight of the trip was Connor's present from his uncle...a dozen farm eggs!

My Three Pumpkins

After Sunday afternoon naps, we had fun doing arts and crafts. Today the boys painted the cutest pumpkin faces I found at Michaels. Connor's, of course, was the most accurately painted, but the twins ended up with what Connor called "the boys camouflage pumpkins." Needless to say they had fun and that's all that counts. I think I may put them in a plant to decorate for the holidays.

The Two Little Piggies

This last Friday night I made pork chops for dinner. Usually, I don't have a problem with the boys willing to eat at least part of their dinner, but this unfortunately was a different night! The twin lil' piggies decided they didn't want any pork. As the pics below show you, the act across from the dinner table got progressively worse (so bad that the camera came out) and quite comical.
Scene 1 ~ I'm not pleased with the dinner selection
Scene 2 ~ Can you please come up with something else to eat

Scene 3 ~ Oh Man

Scene 4 ~ This is awful

Scene 5 ~ Dad gave in and held me while I continued to hold my bite of pork chop in my mouth. Yes, I act just like my father:)

SNAKE!!

After we got home from school today, I saw a toy that was left in our front entry outside. I told Connor to go get it and he starting yelling, "MOMMA." I came slowly walking around the corner of the house only to find Connor staring at a one foot garden snake. In the process of me getting a shovel, Connor setting of the alarm to the house, Grant getting a broom, and only the Lord knew what Preston was doing...we lost the snake! I'm sure we look like idiots running around the front yard. Connor told me he would find the snake so he starting hissing like a snake. I'm so squeamish, I told the boys to get inside and he could find it later. Ha Ha. Hopefully, we won't see that snake again.

Double Lives

Grant and Preston have had a secret for four weeks now...they live double lives. They have a life with Connor and a second life without Connor. They have secrets that Connor doesn't know anything about. Today's secret activity was...the ZOO! I didn't bribe them from telling him, but fortunately for me they didn't let the secret out. We met our best friends Rachel, Owen, and Noah at the Dallas Zoo and spent a few hours outside living up the wonderful weather. The twins took a few minutes before going into the zoo to ride on the new bronzed elephants decorating the entrance.
Once our friends arrived, we went inside and starting chatting it up with a macaw. The boys thought this was soooo funny that they were giggling like little girls:)
Rachel and I both commented on how they weren't lil' boys anymore. The three big boys pretty much walked the entire zoo and insisted they didn't need to ride in the wagon or stroller we were hauling around. I smile with excitement that they are growing up and frown with disappointment at the same time.

I bribed them by telling them we would go get ice cream after we pick up Connor for this shot!
We didn't even make it to the highway before they were sound asleep...now that means we had a good time:)

Lunch with Connor

We have spent all year long watching the progress of Connor's new school, LaRue Miller Elementary, as we drive back and forth from our house. The twins actually thought it was their school too, so today we decided to visit Connor for lunch. You would have thought the twins won the lottery when I told them what we were going to do. We dropped off Connor at school that morning and they thought we were going to lunch then:) We ran our regular Monday trip to Walmart and then back home and I packed their own lunches in their lunch bags. Finally, off we went to our final destination...THE BIG SCHOOL.
They think they are so big...so off they went to school all by themselves.
We checked in the office and off to the cafeteria we marched. Grant proceeded to find a spot to sit and opened his lunch box and started to dive right in. I sadly informed him that he would have to wait 5 minutes for Connor to arrive. The time finally came! The boys got to sit with Connor's class and seem to fit right in. Grant sat on his knees and was told by the lunch monitor (a lady we know) "Pockets on the bench"...without even blinking an eye, he sat his lil' bottom right down and I just smiled.
After lunch was over, we went back to the office to sign out and the office lady, Jo, offered up stickers to the twins. Don't you know that was the icing on the cake! Now home for a nap and back in 2 hours to big the big boy up.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNOR

The big boy in the house turned "SEVEN" this weekend. It is so hard to believe that all the trials of trying to get pregnant and then having our little miracle child happened over seven years ago. He is getting so big and smart (or is that smart mouthed?). I asked Connor what he wanted to do for his birthday this year and he came up with a camouflage theme. He also insisted that he wanted to stay home this year and not go anywhere. I did a little searching online and came up with cute invitation and party ideas and we added a bounce house and fun backyard activities to boot.

~Here is our lil' soldier~

The bounce house rental company dropped off the bounce house the morning of the party and as they unfolded it my heart sank...they brought a Princess Bounce House!! Doug came in the house laughing his head off and then we told Connor to come take a look and said "Don't you like the bounce house they brought you"...the look on his face was priceless. The lady felt so bad that she left it and went back and picked up the castle bounce house (which we were suppose to have), two kiddie table/chair sets, and a tub of water guns just because. The boys all just laughed, but I don't think they really cared because they had twice as much fun.

Before it was all said and done, we had three lil' men in a tub (with a lil' lady standing watch over them) having the time of their lives. Preston got out shaking like a dog trying to get the water off of himself. Now, that was funny:)

Mother's Day Out, here we come!!

Today was Grant and Preston's first day back to Hillcrest Child Development Center (aka, MDO). Grant has been looking forward to this day for about three weeks because it meant he could wear his new tennis shoes. They have been hanging in his closet and he has had his big eyes on them and I have constantly told him "Not Today"...I just wanted them to look fresh! It came time to leave this morning and I figured we should take some first day of school pics, but Grant did not agree. After several Grumpy Grant shots as you can attest to below, I finally got a good pic (only because I bribed them both with ice cream after school)...I'll do whatever it takes for a good pic:)

Movin' Dirt

Daddy has been helping a friend from church set poles for a new fence at their house. Our three boys and their one boy, Drew, decided that was the perfect time to shovel, rake, and haul dirt around their new backyard. They had so much fun and each had a specific task to take care of.

Sleepy Time

The twins usually go to bed during the school year around 8pm. This particular night I thought that I heard a noise coming from their room, but as I got closer I didn't hear anything so I left well enough alone. At 10pm I usually go to their room and tuck them in again before I settle down for the evening. I walked in their room and realized I was missing Grant...he wasn't in his bed and not on the floor either...that could only mean one thing...yes, the other bed! Those two rascals had been playing together until they literally dropped. Preston was in his usual spot on the right of the pic and Grant man took the other end all sprawled out. Doug and I gently moved Grant back to his bed and then confronted them both the next morning. They both admitted to playing and having a lil' sleepover in Preston's bed and even wanted to do it again...sadly, I told them no:)

Countdown to Hunting Season

Who knew that going to Dick's Sporting Goods could be as much fun for the lil' boys as their dad? While dad was off chatting with friends and looking for deer corn, the boys found a very fun pop-up tent to hide in and play peek-a-boo with their mommy. Of course, the "Black boy twins" got a little noisy so mommy and Preston went shopping/wasting time by ourselves in the store.

While Preston and I shopped, Preston found the perfect hat for himself (his nickname these days is "Pirate Preston")...a Nike hat with a pirate and a baseball all in camo. If the darn thing wasn't $20, I would have bought it for him because he was so cute! In the meantime, we found Connor a few birthday items that I might eventually regret...a new baseball bat and a bike ramp:( P.S. Don't tell him yet...it's a suprise!

The Perfectionist

The boys received Mickey Mouse puzzles for their birthday last year and we just pulled them down to play with. Grant has been so intently putting them together over and over all by himself. This day was especially funny because his facial expressions never cease to amaze us!

The finaly product with the cutest little "Puzzle-put-togetherer" in town!
