Teething Grant

Connor gets to pick a gift out of a bucket every Friday at school if he has good behavior for the week. Several weeks ago, he picked out a pair of fake teeth which all the boys have loved. A few nights ago after bath time, Grant snuck the teeth into his mouth and paraded around the house making growling noises at everyone...along with a lot of laughter! What silly boys we have:)

Goin' to the Pumpkins

We have been waiting for weeks to go see the pumpkins!! Thankfully, we are all well and Connor was out of school for Columbus Day so off we went with our good friends to the Arboretum. We go every year and usually have a lot of fun taking pictures, but this year was a different story. Grumpy Grant was not entertaining mom's desire of the perfect picture and the rest of the crew just got plain tired of smiling. It is so hard to get 3 little boys to cooperate. Here is our attempt at trying and having a lot of fun (even when the camera wasn't snapping away)!

"He Missed It...He Missed It"

Connor has officially started baseball this fall...no more t-ball. He had his first scrimmage this last weekend, so the entire family tagged along to cheer Connor on. I believe he only got out one time and ended up on base the other times he was up to bat. This is so much harder trying to hit a moving target! As only little brothers can do, Grant cheered for Connor and his teammates, but when they missed the ball Grant would YELL "HE MISSED IT MOMMA HE MISSED IT." I found myself placing a hand over his mouth several times trying to keep him from sharing his brutal honesty with everyone in the stands. Although, Doug and I had a good chuckle:)

The Road to Recovery

As our family is trying to recover from the numerous bugs we have all had in the last two weeks, we cleaned and did laundry again (it seems as if it is never ending). The twins think doing laundry is a blast...I wish I had the same feelings. Today Grant wanted to stand on the pile of clothes waiting to go in the wash and watch the machine twist and turn. I finally had to tell him that we had to put the lid down so it would keep going. Yes, this is the same Grant Douglas who was on death's doors yesterday...it is amazing what a shot will do!

Sickly Update

In our sad pitiful house there is not much more to talk about than who is sick and to what extent:( Just as Connor and Preston are now well and both back at school, Grant and Doug succumbed to the pressure. The stomach bug invaded our house this last weekend. Doug has slowly semi-recovered and flew out today for Amarillo. Grant picked up the stomach bug yesterday and can't hold ANYTHING down. We ended up at the doctor this morning getting a Phenergan shot (per my request...I know I am the meanest mommy ever) and as of this note, Grant has held down 3 crackers, a banana, and a mixed drink(sprite and pedialyte). I feel like we are making wonderful progress.

Another One Bites The Dust

Grant has joined the crew of sickly people around our house! Just as one is totally well, another one succumbs to the strep bug. Grant has been doing so well, full of energy and not one symptom to complain of until the cough started last night:( I knew we were doomed. Grant has patiently watched his brothers take medicine and has begged me for some, but he knew he wasn't going to get any because he wasn't sick. Thank goodness the pediatrician was kind enough to give us a prescription last Friday just in case...so today it got filled. After the first dose, I think Grant would rather do without the medicine...you check it out!
Scene 1 - Wow...this is tart!

Scene 2 - I change my mind...I don't want this stuff.

Scene 3 - Trying not to throw up

Scene 4 - Please, I beg don't make me do it!

Scene 5 - Thank goodness I survived:)

One to One With Preston

Around the Black household, we continue to fight the battle of Strep Throat. Connor and Grant went to school on Tuesday, but my sweet baby boy got the opportunity to spend one on one time with mom:) Connor is sooo excited to be back at school this week after only missing one day...who would have thought. Grant beat me to his class Tuesday at church about 100 feet ahead of me and didn't even turn to say bye...I think that is another good sign. Preston was also excited, but for different reasons. The night before school he was still running a fever so I told him he could hang out with me the next day while the boys went to school. Every time you asked him what he was going to do the next day, he just smiled and said "Stay with momma." Since he wasn't actually running a fever, but just acting lazy, we went shopping! It has been FOREVER since I went shopping with just one child...this was an actual luxury:) We went to the Parks Mall to buy new Crocs for the twins and don't you know they didn't have their size. Daddy took us to lunch with Jason Fox and Preston actually ate a biscuit (with the amount of food he has been eating I don't know how he is surviving). We went a few other places, one of which included the Children's Place where Preston picked out Grant and himself a pair of sunglasses in which to remember the day. Lastly, Preston informed me it was time to pick up Grant and Connor. I think he had fun, but he was ready to see the gang again!
