Sprinkler Park 2009

In years past, we have visited a certain sprinkler park with my best friend and let the boys play the morning away and have a sack lunch. This year, we decided to meet up again at the same park and the boys were soooo excited..........until, we got there! The twins still had a blast playing in the water and on the adjoining playground, but poor Connor, the big boy, has officially outgrown one of our activities. I felt so sorry for him, but we weren't going to abruptly change our plans just for him. He was going to have to suffer this one through and I was going to somehow make it up to him later. The pics tell the story...

This was shortly after we arrived while the lil' boys were splashing in the water.
A bit later he was so disgusted he decided to hide under our towels and then Preston went searching for him:)

He finally decided to get up and go play by himself for a bit.

Grant hiding under a fountain...

The twins going to join in the fun with their brother.

After lunch the boys found some nearby trees to climb on. The trees had several branches that swooped to and fro and were strong enough to hold all the boys.

Anyone who knows Grantsters knows this look all to well:)

The entire gang!
Next year we will have to try one of our other favorite watering holes!

Movie Day at Hillcrest Baptist Church

One of our fun-time activities in the last few weeks has been going to the new youth building at church and watching a movie. The new building as you can see has a TV that consists of 6 screens put together to show a single picture... pretty cool! The best part to me the mom of three is that they had the entire room to pick a spot to lay down and they chose to sit by each other:)

Happy Birthday Boys

July is birthday month around our house. We have the opportunity to celebrate three very important people's lives!
Doug on the 11th
Philip, Doug's brother, on the 12th
and
My daddy, Sam, on the 14th

Happy Birthday Boys!
We all loaded up to go eat dinner with friends the other night and Doug thought he hit something the kids left in the driveway. That would have been the better option, but no we had a completely flat tire! So we switched vehicles and decided to deal with the problem later that night. The twins and Doug tried to put air in the tire, but had an extremely difficult job of getting the air to stay in because they found a big screw letting the air out as fast as it was being put in. A day later, I now have 4 brand new tires for the family-mobile! That is not what I imagined spending quite so much money on:(

Connor...The Innovative Child

Connor is always thinking up of something to make with leftover scraps laying around the house. This time he found some string up in the tippy-top of the tree that he thought he could get down in order to make a fishing gadget.

July 4th

This year we were invited to Doug's sister-in-law's dad's house on Lake Granbury. We had a blast from the time we pulled up to the house until we left late that night. They have a very nice house that backs up to the lake. Connor's first words out of his mouth was, "Is the second story of the house real or fake?" They have a wonderful area to entertain friends...from a boat dock, to a pool, to an outside kitchen and fireplace...it was posh!
A group of family loading up to go boating.

The back of the house as seen from the boat dock. It looked like a "Southern Living" house all decorated up with flags.

The Kitchen

The kids all by themselves ate an entire watermelon.

Connor and his cousin, David, eating watermelon as it drips all over them:)

Preston stopping briefly for a photo op.

Preston and Daddy fishing. Of course, nothing would bite Preston's line because he was too loud and wouldn't sit still:)

Preston tubing with Uncle Philip for the first time...I don't think he had any fun at all!

Preston taking a breather before the next fun activity. He is starting to get freckles:)

Lovin' on momma!

Grant playing in the pool.

Grant's turn on the tube.

This boy loved fishing...he would have sat there all day!

Two cuties...

The twins fishing...

One big watermelon eater:)

Connor playing with his buddy.

Connor and his cousin, Kaelyn fishing. They could actually see the fish nibbling away at their bait.

Connor and Kaelyn having a heart to heart...

Grant wasn't a fan of the huge fireworks the rich people were shooting because they were so loud!

One of the aunts passed out glow in the dark necklaces to all the kids so Grant shared with me:)

All 8 kids plus 4 of the adults...Is Doug a kid or adult?
As Doug would say..."Good Times!"

Summer Fun

Thanks to my best friend's blog, we copied the idea of putting a pool at the bottom of our swingset's slide. The twins had a blast playing in the heat going time after time. Connor sat inside insisting that what they were doing was for babies. A short time passed by and then at the back door appeared one Connor Black fully suited up to join in the giggling fun. The pool was bought for the dogs to lay in, but we may have to borrow it from them again!
