Poor Poor Connor asked THE QUESTION..."Are you and dad Santa"...right in front of the twins! I quickly told him to leave the room as they were all trying to go to bed and rushed him to our bedroom where Doug was and we had THE TALK! He said everyone at school was saying that Santa just wasn't real and so we asked him if he really really wanted to know the truth. He looked at me with poor pitiful puppy dog eyes and said, "Yes." I said "Daddy and I are Santa and give you all the gifts that you receive." He fell over into my lap and cried his poor eyes out for over 5 long agonizing minutes. It wasn't just a little crying, but the gasping kind of crying. My heart ached for my little man, but I know we made the right decision. He is in the 3rd grade and I most
certainly didn't want him to be made fun of. I told him he had to keep our secret though because it just wouldn't be fair for the twins to find out in Kindergarten. That this was a fun game and is suppose to be special. He then looked at Doug and I and said, "Now I know why daddy's breath is always minty on Christmas Day...because he eats all the cookies and drinks the milk"...then he busted out laughing while tears were still falling from his sweet innocent face. In the days to come he continued to play along very well and even made some of our stories about Santa as we talked to the twins even sound pretty darn good. He would even wink at me while we were telling stories like we had a very special SECRET! What a sweet big brother he is!!!
