One of Those Special Moments

Monday we came home from the water park and I made the boys strip down in the laundry room before running through the house with wet clothes on. One thing led to the next and we quickly had three entertaining little boys wearing underwear on their heads dancing around acting so funny. It was so comical that Preston got a high pitched silly laugh that just wouldn't stop:)

Awards Day / Last Day of First Grade

Connor survived his way through first grade and we are so proud of him. Last week during the final days of school, LaRue Miller Elementary celebrated with awards day. I captured a pic of Connor at the front of his class's line getting ready to accept his certificate for doing his best this year.

After this pic was taken, I turned on our video camera and lined the three boys up in front of the school and told them Doug and I bought them season passes to Hawaiian Falls. Connor got all excited and then said, "What's that?"...I laughed and then said, "You know that place we pass with all the water slides" (pause) and then Connor yelled, "Whoo-hoo." We have since been twice and the boys absolutely love it. Preston is just the right height to go down the slides, but Grant is an inch to short. We got lucky and a teenager at the front gate gave us a red wristband so that Grant doesn't get measured at the top of the slides and gets to go down without being questioned. I am going to milk the sticky on that wristband for as long as I can!

The Day at the Museum

The first Tuesday of the month the Dallas Museum of Art has a free kid day so we joined our friends Rachel, Owen, and Noah for a day of fun. This month's theme centered around the beating of drums. The kids made drums and heard a percussionist drum while a lady told a story.

Buddies

Book Buddy Club

This summer our church is offering a variety of children's activities to keep the kids entertained and not just sitting around the house. The first activity was for preschool children and was entitled "Book Buddy Club." They had a ton of activities planned that centered around a particular book. Of course, I don't remember the name of the book, but the moral of the story was excellent. It was about a fish that had many different colored scales and gave all away except for one. The twins learned that it is enjoyable to give things away that in turn make other people happy.

Then they split up into groups and Preston was so happy to be with Ms. Keri

Ms. Keri put sticky mirrors on the children to represent their scales to pass away to the moms in the room...the idea was for the kids to only have one mirror left when the music quit playing.

With all that action, of course, the kids were starving:) We gave them plates with blue icing, marshmallow topping, colored goldfish, and pretzel sticks. They went fishing...too cute!

Finally, they danced like slow and fast fish to some music waving around scarves.

The boys had a blast...we can't wait for the next activity!

Memorial Day Fun

We had a great Memorial Day weekend hanging out with friends from church. We were invited to the Koethe's house on the other side of Midlothian. The kids swam or fished most of the day and we had great food and fellowship to boot!

Preston had a blast all day. I don't think I saw him half the day because he exhausted himself in the pool.

Grant had fun hanging on to the side of the pool because he was afraid his floaties wouldn't work. In this pic he is enjoying himself some Root Beer...his favorite:)

At one point someone counted 35 kids in the pool at once:) The Lab at the bottom of this pic kept jumping in the pool chasing toys playing with the kids!

Grant came and snuggled up in my lap and before I knew it he was snoring:)

Probably 30 minutes into his nap someone said, "DeAnn what's leaking?"...Grant was peeing out the side of the towel:) thank goodness it was a new non-absorbent towel so it just ran down the towel and onto the floor. What a day!

Dad Went Shopping with the Boys

While I was at work last week Doug decided he needed a few things from the grocery store and took the boys along for a ride. Don't you know they came back with syrup for their beloved waffles for breakfast and every dessert mix known to man! Grant's pick was sugar cookies. I made them up this weekend and decided I would let the boys decorate cookies. Our friends, Jason and Garrett, came over to hang out while Jill was at the Regional track meet at Baylor. The boys all got a dish with white icing and a separate dish with sprinkles... Grant's idea:)
