The Flu Has Hit:(

Just when we thought we were recovering from the strep bug...the flu bug attacked our house. Preston woke up before 6 this morning and came yelling through the house that his head hurt and then threw up all over the wood floor (don't tell Doug). A little Motrin and he went straight back to bed until it was time to take Connor to school. Grant then went to school with friends and so the second day of Mother's Day Out this week Pres and I got to spend some quality time together. Before the afternoon ended the doctor's office called and said they had a cancellation and to hurry in. It didn't take long and they came in with sorry faces and said now he had the flu. Poor poor Preston! The poor boy hasn't moved off the couch all day and can't hold anything down. While we were at the doctor they gave him a mask to wear so he didn't contaminate everyone else. He has refused to take it off his face until he finally puked on it tonight.

This pic is for my friends to see how I have repainted the living room back to it's original color and bought a new rug and stretched fabric over panels to hang on the wall. Decorating touches include...the throw-up trash can, sprite cup, and crackers:)
Pray for a better weekend!

A Sick Day Spent With Mom

This week started off on a bad note. Preston ran a fever all weekend yet somehow still was bouncing off the wall:) Monday he was officially diagnosed with Strep throat. Tuesday I had a much needed hair appointment with my sister for some coloring and so since Preston had been on antibiotics just shy of 24 hours and couldn't go to school he got to tag along with me for the day. Once we dropped off the other two boys at school it finally dawned on him that it was just the two of us...he was soooo excited. He packed up some of his train set and the TAG reading books we have (the pen reads the books for him) and off we went to Mansfield. I don't think that I have ever seen that child behave so well in my entire life. Aunt Shelley was pretty amazed as well:) Before we left Preston posed in the chair with Shelley and gave us an impromptu peace sign. I asked him where he learned that and his response was, "Connor."

Preston wanted to know how high the chair went:)

After I got colored we stopped for a very quick bite at Chick-fil-a and then off to pick-up Grant. As soon as I walked in Grant's room he announced that he made a Bible today. While we waited in the carpool line at Connor's school to pick him up I pulled the Bible out of his backpack and read it to the boys. It was a seven page Bible that he colored about what God created on each day of the week. Check the twins out...remember Preston didn't go to school:)

Connor's First Project

What do you get when you have...Type A mom + 2ND grade child who loves the outdoors = An Amazing Rock project:) Connor's teacher had the kids collect 10 rocks from around their home and they were to put the rocks on clay (so they wouldn't move around) and present it in a shoe box or some sort of fashion. WELL...I (the type a mom) bought a presentation board and Connor glued the rocks onto the board with "Liquid Nail" from Doug's garage stash. Those rocks won't move anytime soon! He decided to title the project, "Amazing Rocks" because "Mom...rocks are so amazing" ...I guess I didn't know that:) Connor was then suppose to describe each rock (ex. shiny, smooth, etc). Connor gave each rock a very detailed multiple word description. I typed the words for him and then he cut everything and glued it onto the board by himself. I think he did AWESOME!!!

Fun With "Baby Jax"

Monday the boys and I got to watch Jax while his mom and dad went to buy a new truck. I don't know which parent in their right mind wants to tag a lil' one around while haggling with a salesman. Jax wasn't to happy to be left with us, but he quickly changed his mind and decided it would be okay to have some fun. I don't know who loves him more...Connor, Grant, Preston, or me:)

Lil' Batman...he had one of Connor's old capes on.
Playing in the TV stuff...I got the end of a smile.

Jax thought it was so fun to dance on Uncle Doug's rolling mat.

He loves it when I turn on the pumpkins and let the light shine.

Jax and Grant sharing kisses with the pumpkins:)

Snugglin' with two of my favorite boys...right before Jax fell asleep in my arms:)

CONNOR

I have asked for prayer at church for our sweet Connor as he has been going through some trials in his life. Connor has struggled with learning ever since Kindergarten and we just couldn't put our finger on it. Last year in first grade I left crying after the 1st six week parent/teacher meeting because his teacher just wasn't sure if Connor would successfully finish first grade. He tries so so hard, but it was as if all the pieces of the puzzle weren't coming together. He did finish first grade right at grade level so we were pleased. Now second grade has started and it seems as if he is living in study hall during recess time just trying to keep up and finish his work everyday. Connor turned 8 the beginning of September and after talking with our family physician who we adore...we decided it was time for Attention Deficit Disorder testing. Once I clued in and really started thinking I realized that it all totally made sense. We have given him a list of 3 things to do at home, for instance, and he would do one thing and then look around like it was time to play and totally not have remembered the rest of the list. He has never been able to finish his work in class and yet he pays so close attention, but can't remember new things taught. After visiting a referred doctor the diagnosis was...ADD, inattentive type. Now we have it in writing and can move on. Thank goodness our family doctor is our age with kids our kids' ages. He has just been through the exact same thing and has chosen to medicate his children for a variety of reasons an so we have followed suit. I know it is not for everyone, but we feel like it will be the fastest option for now to get Connor back on track. Connor simply knows that he takes medicine every morning in order for him to learn better and that is all an 8 year old little boy needs to know! I did have our 2nd grade parent meeting this last Monday and she said that she has noticed a change for the better in Connor just recently. She said he is quiet and has excellent manners and that he could have easily fallen through the cracks. Thank goodness he has so many people looking out for him! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH CONNOR:)

My First Jewelry Show

This last weekend was the Midlothian Fall Festival. I finally had the opportunity to try to sell some of my domino and scrabble tile necklaces. I have been making these since the beginning of the year and was going to be a part of the Midlothian Spring Fling, but then the start of the swine flu put a stop to any social events in the country:( My mom and I sat outside in the freezing cold from 8am until 3:30pm. I made some money and had lots of interested ladies! After all was said and done, I went home and literally thawed out in the bathtub for 30 minutes.
Part of my table...love the zebra print:)

The boys all came to bring me and Honey blankets and we got busy so they camped out trying to stay warm for a bit...

The local vendor gave the boys a back massager and so they took turns giving each other a back rub...

Doug decided to go to the local food pantry booth and talk with an old acquaintance and waste time.

When Mom's Away The Twins Will...

...make a slide out of their mattress and roll downhill! When I heard the giggling that came behind the shut doors of their room I knew they were up to something. They pile a comforter and many pillows under one end of the mattress and made a make-shift slide. They were having the time of their lives!

Preston's turn...
Grant's turn...

The dog pile...

All smiles for mom:)
Life is grand being a twin!!!
