An Artful Evening

Doug was late getting home this particular night which was actually fine for once because we had a lot of arts and crafts to play catch up on for the holidays. Ms. Rachel and her boys gave the twins a "make your own silly band shapes" and all the boys were to share this noise popping gadget. Needless to say we started with silly band shaping and while that was baking we were outside making the loudest firework popping noises with this gadget stick that you throw in the air. The boys loved it. It was cold in the house so my big 9 year old Connor proceeded to warm things off by starting a fire in the fireplace. I can't believe I have a child that was trying to show me how to do things. I questioned whether the chimney was open and got the rolling of the eyes from the 9 year old...excuse me! Connor wanted to make some more ornaments like they had done at school so I was well prepared. We opened glass ornaments and poured paint in them and rolled them around until they were coated in all sorts of funky colors. To finish things off they painted some snowflake picture frames to hang on the trees in years to come. I just need to take the boys pictures and put them in the frames and date them so I have a keepsake for this year. What fun we had and then finished it all off with a movie.

The twins helping each other form a shape.

A star for Preston and tree for Grant.

Boy was he proud of himself...and me too!

Craft time

Roll that paint Grant

Connor perfecting his throw.

Snuggle time...

...and what do you know, Doug is down before the kids! Surprise Surprise!!
