Thanksgiving 2010

I was chosen to work Thanksgiving Day at the hospital this year. To most people that seems unfortunate, but for me it was a blessing this year. Only because it meant that I was going to be off for the Christmas holidays. This is the first time in about 5 years that I have been totally off for Christmas...YIPPEE! As soon as I got off work and got home and showered we left for Abilene...off to deer camp. This is our family's 2nd annual trip to deer camp for Thanksgiving. We made the trip this year with our friends, the Meeks and the Burgesses. We had a blast which for some may be hard to believe. Out in the middle of literally no where and no cell service...awesome! The gang shot 1 pig, 1 coyote, and 1 deer...needless to say that meant a lot of cutting up animals which led to a science lesson and plain fun:) We spent two nights and the girls even got to go into Abilene to do a little Black Friday shopping.

Preston just wandering around...love this pic.

Grant said he would touch the pig's guts if he had a glove...crack me up.

There are 2 old train cars that the kids love to climb on.

Connor and Doug in the deer stand.

Preston loving on Ms. Keri and trying to help keep each other warm around the camp-fire.

Grant with some of the beloved deer bones he found on the property. He brought them home for show and tell at school:)

The bathroom...yes I used it many times!

Our trailer

Grant wandered off by himself and we found him on the train.

Doug and Grant with "the bones"!

Mr. Jason gave Grant a hunting outfit to keep him warm in years to come.

The last hunt before we left Doug shot a little 5 point buck. He let Preston hunt the deer down (which was right under the feeder where he shot it...Preston was so proud of himself).

The kids trying to load the deer onto the 4-wheeler. The dads had to help out.

Preston beaming with pride!

Doug sharing his story with Brian and Jason.
