Update On The First Month Of School

Well I had bets placed with myself that it would only take a week before one of the twins would be in trouble and we would be receiving a phone call...we made it 2 days! Part of me wanted to laugh, but at the same time someone was in trouble. Apparently, Grant was our culprit. He wouldn't sit still and knocked over an easel, got embarressed, and then refused to talk to his teacher, put his head down, and then spit all over his shirt. He got put on yellow for his behavior which in our house means you are in trouble. The color chart for behavior is green, yellow, orange, and red (go to the principal). When he got home and I saw that he was on yellow we had a talk and I told him he was going to have to pay for his bad behavior...so I took away his beloved pokey pillowcase. I told him he had to earn it back by having a green day. Don't you know that child came home the next day telling me first thing that he was on green...and where was his pillowcase. I knew we had to take the bull by the horn and set a firm example of how to act early on and so "mean mommy" had to come out. He has been on yellow one other time for bad lunchroom behavior which come to find out he is trying to talk to Preston across the lunchroom. I know it must be hard for them to see each other and not be able to yell at each other, but he has to learn the rules. He volunteered the pillowcase up on the second yellow day and got in the car crying because he knew he was caught. Sometimes being a twin is hard work!!

Preston went to the library for the first time and the librarian read a book about favorite things. The class was told that they would stand up and introduce themselves one at a time to the librarian and tell her one of their favorite things. Preston's time quickly approached and he said,"I am Preston Thomas Black and one of my favorite things is 6-packs." The teacher called me at home and told me the story and said it was all the librarian, the aide, and herself could do not to break out in hysterical laughter at his comment. He then went on to say, "Yeah, my mom has a treadmill and she won't let me ride it, but if she did I would have a 6-pack"...all the while pointing to his tummy. I told his teacher that his big brother stands on our bathtub occasionally admiring his belly saying that he has a 6-pack so that is where Preston is coming up with this story. That boys is a MESS!

Connor thank goodness has not created any phone calls home to mom. His teacher said he had 2 weeks of trying to adjust to the fast paced 3rd grade routine, but that he is finally keeping up and catching on. He had his first spelling pre-test 2 weeks ago and made a 101!!! GO CONNOR:) He had such a hard time spelling in 2nd grade - making Bs and Cs on weekly spelling tests. This year they get to take a pre-test on Thursdays and if they make a 100 or better (there are always 2 bonus words) then they keep the grade and don't have to take the Friday test. I called Grandmother and Honey and then put the test on the refrigerator. Connor didn't understand why I was going overboard, but I told him he had come such a long way and that I was so very proud of him. He just rolled his eyes, smiled, and walked off:)
